 Visit of Father Phamuel

In order to guarantee a successful work on site we work closely with partners from Ghana.

In the course of this, Father Phanuel visited Abofour for the first time in January 2020 and got an impression of our projects and learning at our schools.

He is a representative of the Steiler Missionaries from Tamale, whom we get to know during our work on site.

Father Phanuel is now responsible for the local project management and coordination in consultation with Father Tony from Abofour (pastor and school chaplaincy). In order to be able to evaluate the progress of the project, he regularly visits Abofour.

Orthopaedic Training Centre in Nsawam

In the mission house founded by Brother Tarcisius (SVD) in 1961 under the direction of Sister Elizabeth Newman, approximately 6000 patients are treated annually. In addition to the prosthetic department, there are other areas for physiotherapy and a general school with boarding school.

Additional training is provided in the areas of physiotherapy and the trade of orthopaedic mechanic.

The equipment with prostheses can be decisive for persons with mutilated extremities. Unfortunately, parents often feel ashamed of their disabled children and hide them. A prosthesis can restore a whole new attitude to life.

A cooperation between the OTC and Friends for Ghana is already under discussion. So we can imagine to include the training as an orthopaedic mechanic in our programme.
